A Festival of three popular genres of Indian semi-classical, extremely romantic, heart-piercing music interpreted through romantic poetry.

A festival of three important genres of Indian semi-classical music that Saudha has been hosting since 2015.


Curated by T M Ahmed Kaysher, the festival offers a fresh new and rare presentations of Ghazal Thumri and Kheyal - three visceral genres of Indian semi-classical music with complementing, re-interpretative verses of poetry from global literature.

 

The session at the iconic Keats House Museum (The place itself is tourist attraction where poet John Keats lived significantly and creatively important years of his life) is featuring a leading Indian classical vocalist of this time based in London Chandra Chakraborty with Aniruddha Mukherjee on Tabla and with recitation of complenting verses of leading English Romantic poet Keats and his contemporaries. by a powerful performance poet Shree Ganguly.

Saudha International Literature Festival | Senedd the Welsh Parliament

The festival preaches the art and beauty of imagination, languages from different cultural heritages through talks, reading, performances. 

This is part of Saudha’s critically acclaimed literature Festival that contemplates re-reading/ re-interpreting the works of literary giants of the world and explores the philosophical insights on many unconventional literary themes and movements through reading, performances, poetry-theatres, talks etc. 

 

In collaboration with a Cardiff based art-organisation Club 1400,  sponsored by the cabinet secretary for finance Mark Drakeford MS, our event at Senedd will feature  a few leading contemporary poets, writers, performers – a leading poet and an acclaimed academic Fiona Simpson, very acclaimed and award-winning poets Peter Finch, Taz Winkel-Opleir, Helen McSherry, Clare Potter, a prominent academic and philosopher Peter Salmon, spoken-word artist Sonali Dasgupta, national award-winning social justice campaigner Cllr Jasmin Chowdhury, a prominent dancer and choreographer  Aleksandra Jones who will  re-define both intellectual, political, emotional and spiritual discourses of the word PEACE through a series of insightful and haunting presentations followed by a Saudha production of spoken-words, classical music and classical dance called IN THE QUEST OF PEACE WITHIN. 

Saudha’s production is being presented by a leading Indian classical vocalist Chandra Chakraborty, poet T M Ahmed Kaysher,  a very powerful performance poet Shree Ganguly, talented classical dancers Asmitha Keer and Ishika Biswas, Tagore devotee Monju Chakraborty and a music-connoisseur, ethno-musicologist Dr Siddartha Kargupta.

Sponsored by Foysol Choudhury MSP and curated by Chandra Chakraborty and T M Ahmd Kaysher, the session features a hypnotic Saudha production RHYMES FOR RIVER AND PLANTING POETRY IN PARLIAMENT, a unique art-initiative on  that combines classical music, poetry-theatre, dance and painting. The production vivifies a fresh philosophical connotations of river in addition to redifine the relation between nature and human as well as climate-awareness.
